About Matt

Matt Thomason launched ShipMate in 2013 with a vision of serving his clients independently as a freelance broadcast + integrated producer.  As a independent Matt is available to serve clients as a contractor or freelancer in a variety of different roles including; line producer, production manager, broadcast producer, post supervisor, integrated producer, event producer and creative project manager.

Matt has extensive experience executing campaigns on budget/deadline for some of the largest brands, agencies and television networks around the country.  With over nine (9) years of production and marketing experience Matt is an established industry veteran.

In addition to his production experience Matt served more than five (5) years with the United States Coast Guard and Federal Emergency Management Agency.  Matt holds a Marketing degree and has extensive experience developing marketing & communications strategies for his clients.  This unique blend of production, marketing and military experience provides Matt’s clients with a strategic partner for their video, marketing, communications and advertising campaigns.

Before starting his career Matt grew up traveling the world with his family, was a professional white water raft guide and proudly served his country.  After enjoying island life on Lanikai Beach in Kailua, Hawaii (island of Oahu) Matt returned to the mainland where he met and married his wife in Charleston, SC.

In 2008 Matt moved to Atlanta, GA where he currently resides with his wife Kim.  He is a avid runner, marathoner, IronMan finisher, aspiring ultra marathoner, National Park explorer, still misses the days that workdays included a surf or paddle break and spends much of his free time supporting his local community, Veterans’ causes and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society with Team in Training.
